A Celebration of an Icon
Inspired by their passion for the outdoors, Michael Budman and Don Green founded Roots in 1973. Since the very beginning, the beaver has served as our beloved logo and an expression of our love for nature. Not only an emblem of Canada, the beaver plays an important role in the Canadian ecosystem as a community builder. Their ponds provide habitat for other wildlife and can help reduce the impacts of climate change.
We partnered with long-time friend of Roots and renowned Canadian artist Heather Cooper to create a limited-edition, locally sourced and sustainable collection in honour of the beaver and Canadian wildlife, with 100% of the proceeds going towards the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
Heather is also the designer behind our logo, an iconic symbol of Roots for over four decades. We commissioned Canadian film maker Greg Durrell to tell the story of how the Roots Cooper Beaver came to be, and it’s role within the fabric of Canada.
